Exploring the World
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” ― Lao Tzu
This summer I turned 21. Although that might not mean much to some people, it means something to me. Growing up, I began to wonder what my purpose in life was. To this day I am not completely sure. I am on a constant journey to find myself. Each and every day I reflect upon my actions. Some may be good. Some may be bad. However, that doesn’t mean I’m not growing as a person. I took a leap of faith and will continue on this journey we call life.
At first, turning 21 was a shock to me. I realized that a whole new world opened up to me. For instance, I traveled to Las Vegas with my dad and his parents. We had a good time. While my grandparents were out casino hopping, my dad took me around to see some of the sites. One of these sites was the Titanic exhibit inside the Luxor. Walking through made me realize how precious life is and how one person or one action can make a difference. Without the courage of all aboard the Titanic, we would know more about the dangers of the ocean. Like the ocean, I am on a journey to find myself.
As we concluded that tour, my dad and I met up with my grandparents again. Of course like most grandparents, they brought up stories of long ago. These stories made me think, there are a lot of opportunities out there. You just have to find them. What are these opportunities? That is for you to find out. Each person is different. Know your boundaries and you can achieve anything you put your mind to.
After leaving Las Vegas, I reflected what I saw. I wondered about if I had never gone on the trip. Would I still be the same person I am? Maybe. This trip helped me to realize that the world is a big place. A person who likes to travel, such as myself, can appreciate what other people have done in the past. Every place has its history. All places no matter where you may go are unique. Never give up. Follow the stars. One day you may realize how important you are to helping others grow and learn about themselves. Who knows what lies ahead. There is a mystery around every corner. We have yet to discover our true purpose in life.
